The Capitol Building

And there she is, the Capitol Building. Atop the nearly 9 Million pounds of iron that makes up the dome is the statue of Freedom. Now, Freedom was stuck up there in 1863. You history buffs out there may realize that the helicopter wasn't around back then. One has to imagine the conversation between the government agent and the contractor tasked with putting it up there.

Government agent: Ok, we want you to put this statue on top of the capitol dome.
Contractor: Sure thing, we'll just need a lot of rope, some pulleys and a couple dozen horses. How big is it?
Government agent: Uhmmm, yeah, it's kinda big but nothing you can't handle.
Contractor: Well, like how big?
Government agent: What if I said it was under 8 tons?
Contractor: Riiiight...

Wow, I love the colorful trees in the foreground/middleground... That one would make a nice post card.

Awesome shot! I also love the foreground!

I just did a walking photo tour of Charleston, and we did the same type thing for a lot of the buildings- it was very informative, both of the city and photography. Recommended!
